We invite you to come anytime between 5:30 and 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, to enjoy the Art Market Gallery’s opening reception for an exhibit by our featured artists, painter Lil Clinard of Loudon and ceramicist Gray N. Bearden of Knoxville. Both are both award-winning artists whose works are in many collections locally and around the United States.
Lil Clinard’s formal training in interior design has been put to use in designing bold paintings for today’s interiors. This Tellico Village resident has been painting for more than 45 years. She focuses on watercolors of her travels to the beach, mountains and abroad, and uses rich colors in her landscapes, water scenes and cityscapes.
Gray N. Bearden hand builds functional tabletop ware and sculptural pieces from rolled-out slabs of stoneware clay. Inspired by patterns, textures and symbols, architectural elements, textiles and other influences, she presses created and found objects, or carves, into the clay for decoration and finishes them with underglazes and glazes.
Our spacious gallery is all dressed up for the holiday season and at the opening reception there will be music and complimentary refreshments. You also have an opportunity to purchase artisan-made ornaments, created by Art Market members to help support the Community School of the Arts, a nonprofit program providing free instruction in the arts to children from under-served areas of Knox County.
Please note: We make it easy for you to come to downtown Knoxville to visit the gallery. It is wheelchair accessible, and parking in the abutting garage behind our building and on the street is free after 6 p.m. and on weekends. The Art Market Gallery, at 422 S. Gay St., is a few doors from Mast General Store and next to Downtown Grill & Brewery, and is filled with original art and fine crafts at all price points.
December holiday hours are 11 a.m. -6 p.m., Monday – Thursday and Saturday; 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Friday; 1 – 5 p.m., Sunday. We look forward to seeing you soon!
