Featured Artists December 2012

Enjoy complimentary refreshments and live music this Friday December 7th at the gallery from 5:30-9 pm. This First Friday reception marks the opening of our Featured Artists Exhibit, a presentation of recent works by Eric Gebhart and Elaine Barnes.

Eric Gebhart is a nature and landscape photographer who draws much of his inspiration from the Smoky Mountains. To him, photography is about connecting with nature and sharing all that it has to offer through the images it allows him to create. His hope is that his work will inspire viewers to have a greater awareness of our responsibility to protect the environment.  He is best known for his breathtaking large format panoramas.  The images printed with such fine detail that viewers are drawn into the artwork, feeling as if they are a part of the scene.

Elaine Barnes will be exhibiting a collection of her recent works in clay. She says that, for her, the creative process is about joy: the joy of learning, joy in being able to spend time doing what she loves to do and hopefully, joy that she brings to others with her work. Elaine has exhibited in numerous juried exhibitions and several galleries.

In December, the gallery will continue to offer artisan-made ornaments for sale to benefit the Community School of the Arts, a non-profit program that provides free instruction in music, visual arts, modern dance and drama to children from underserved areas of Knox county.

Member owned and operated by over 60 regional artists, Art Market Gallery is located a 422 South Gay Street in Knoxville next to the Downtown Grill & Brewery. Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm and Sunday 1-5 pm. For more information, call 865-525-5265, visit or join us on facebook:
