Known for her creative wardrobe choices and empowering lyrics, Lady Gaga is truly one of the most influential musicians right now in music.

Shaped by her experiences with bullying and her quest for self discovery, Lady Gaga has become a champion for underdogs and those who dare not conform to society’s expectations.

Another nonconformist who inspired Lady Gaga’s stage name and persona was Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. She has said Queen’s song Radio Gaga is how she came up with the name Lady Gaga.

Gaga’s Evolution depicts Lady Gaga at the beginning of her career (at bottom), at her pinnacle at the 2017 Super Bowl Half Time Show (top) and present day (middle).

Orianthi Penny Panagaris, known mononymously as Orianthi, is an Australian musician, singer and songwriter who rehearsed in 2009 with Michael Jackson in preparation for his ill-fated This Is It concert series, and performed with Alice Cooper’s touring band. Her 2009 debut single “According to You” peaked at No. 3 in Japan, No. 8 in Australia and No. 17 in the US; her second album, Believe, received a worldwide release in late 2009. In 2009, Orianthi was named one of the 12 Greatest Female Electric Guitarists by Elle magazine. She also won the award as “Breakthrough Guitarist of the Year” 2010 by Guitar International magazine.

The painting’s portrayal of Orianthi is guided by a photograph taken by AntiHero Magazine’s Jimmy Little, with Little’s permission.

Known for her sultry voice and long legs, Tina Turner’s career has withstood the test of time because the love of her music spans so many generations. Originally from Nutbush, TN, Tina even has a festival named after her. It’s Nutbush’s Tina Turner Heritage Days, but she’s better known in that community as Anna Mae Bullock.

No matter your generation, you’ve likely heard and danced to some of her most popular songs including What’s Love Got to Do with It, Proud Mary and Private Dancer. I chose Simply Tina’s color palette based on her legendary career of sequins, seduction and, of course, denim jackets.
